More than 2006 calories per person were burned if you spinned for 3hrs. Thank you to the 40 families who participated as well as the teachers who joined in. We couldn't believe our luck with weather and the children had so much fun with the variety of fun races from "Polo on bikes" to cycling with beach balls and s showing some skills for the slowest ride to the fastest ride. As always the parents were so competitive and we all loved Mrs Belcher's cycling on her little bike, definitely the best on the day!! Hope she has recovered and are able to walk on Monday.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ1-CO-0r7-YIDbol-tpma0ycvI_SOOFcKb0vNrHwyzDJdIAumZIejkO1I74jyG9231ZraVWRxonvUTXC8PyDXNEhyphenhyphenyDq49YXa93hRdbMQhU-UuCPKkbSWXZiHZivLaWwEdRo4LDZa2iE8/s1600-h/Greenfield+Cycle+Day+012.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383664540538050466" style="WIDTH: 320px; We very much appreciate her and Bob's support to this very worthy cause. Bob is riding again this year and they and all their friends will be hosting and looking after us as we over night in Maine. Thanks to you and all your friends. He initiated and planned this event and it was his intention to join in on the first ride. This event says volumes about Peter, he motivated, inspired and persuaded a varied group of people and companies to participate and give support, time and money to the ride. He organised, planned and trained, while still undergoing treatment. His positive attitude, fighting spirit and courage inspired the team to complete the ride in his honour. Peter you are sorely missed by us all.<br /><br />Lets remember why we are doing the 2009 ride. Thank you for the challenge and count yourself lucky to be part of this amazing event.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041741735493595508.post-60415779587439192112009-08-17T14:22:00.000-07:002009-08-30T08:38:09.584-07:00Ausies complete 2,285,714 steps - 1000 miles<div>We challenged our Sowelu clients to create teams of 4 or more to attempt to step the same distance we were cycling (1600km). Their challenge was to step 10,000 or more steps a day over a max of 62 days and ultimately complete 2 285 714 steps. The teams completing this in the quickest time were the overall winner and receved a lovely Sowelu gift voucher which included massages, facial and a voucher to spend in store. This prize was awarded at our rider support function. As well as the awards we had a silent auction with gifts lovingly donated to us by various businesses around the Brisbane Paddington area and some from the Gold Coast as well. Random raffle draws were also held and everyone had a wonderful time networking and just having fun.<br /><br />Just a quick letter of thanks to show our gratitude to you all. Your encouragement and support for our cause is heartfelt. Our rider support function was a wonderful success with everyone having a wonderful time with Champaign and smiles flowing.Well done to all the step challenge teams for completing the gruelling 2 month challenge to walk over 2million steps. Special mention must be made to the winning team “The Bentleys”. Thanks to your loving support we are able to complete our journey to assist the GIST foundation to raise the much needed funds to continue their support for those affected by GIST and their families. Thank you once again to all those who assisted in the organization, donations of auction items and raffle draw prizes and a very special thank you to Leah Marshall (Marshall Money) for organizing food, drinks prizes and much much more. Some beautiful borrowed words to conclude our thanks to you all - “This is the world within the world, friends without faces, but certainly not without hearts. It is the beauty of your hearts that is shining here above all” - Roxy & Karen -x-</div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSHH2d_E44Y-ONnRoVtkm8c_G9FLbpj06ZjvFIIVkrVOHLvToJ4l9QA_HY9zSzLcEweBC95VB22AEpiOB_IuGOi5h9UQ-929g6phlzUnmu_nx9nbIiJmteCbgkPTn11oYDCcjcR7ZSsVV9/s1600-h/Some+of+the+girls%5B1%5D.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5375781002576922978" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 213px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSHH2d_E44Y-ONnRoVtkm8c_G9FLbpj06ZjvFIIVkrVOHLvToJ4l9QA_HY9zSzLcEweBC95VB22AEpiOB_IuGOi5h9UQ-929g6phlzUnmu_nx9nbIiJmteCbgkPTn11oYDCcjcR7ZSsVV9/s320/Some+of+the+girls%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1FrQV2cl82GqYsdFGMCjBGpjYRPIGOQiPgKS3ql1NLlZpw9SiaUrUkumErANYGRJrw2wvqLVVLpchZrPdylQjER9vaaE37YL7kpD6fY_YNyyNE7PyT-Z-SZnZk4cl_sggYbzUec_s2f99/s1600-h/The+bentleys%5B1%5D.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5375781374259631202" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 213px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1FrQV2cl82GqYsdFGMCjBGpjYRPIGOQiPgKS3ql1NLlZpw9SiaUrUkumErANYGRJrw2wvqLVVLpchZrPdylQjER9vaaE37YL7kpD6fY_YNyyNE7PyT-Z-SZnZk4cl_sggYbzUec_s2f99/s320/The+bentleys%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041741735493595508.post-3187207545008082752009-08-16T09:20:00.000-07:002009-08-16T09:32:03.099-07:00Breaking news --- LavaMan finally gets on his bikeHi Team<br /><br />LavaMan here --- About to go out and start on the training.<br /><br />I have in the meantime updated the Website and have finally added the Route profiles Wayne setup. We also have a link to press releases.<br /><br />Well done guys, I like the route and the work that has gone into mapping this. Only a couple of days over a 100 miles, including the second from last. I am much happier with the 40 miler. You will also need to check that I have put the correct profiles in the correct place. I did all of this work with my eyes closed as I cannot afford to look at the challenge ahead. As you all know I have a complete meltdown when challenged by any hill bigger than a bump in the road.<br /><br />Please let me know if there is anything else that needs to be added or changed.<br /><br />I have also change the post options on this missive which should hopefully let ya all respond via the blogspot.<br /><br />All the best<br /><br />LavaManLavaManhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01363663380201559879noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041741735493595508.post-56326190812510254632009-07-22T15:03:00.000-07:002009-07-22T15:13:48.419-07:00Wayne in training; Overijse-Givet-Durbuy-OverijseTest in anticipation for the big ride.<br /><br /> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrja71Ezkw2dQ-mLwUsmG6hkMeIfyrQrSK5yiEIg6kPCOCZ5RipWanaUlGAm-2gDYGmyPoZpM6iZD9SoOwVZSQtiV-cU_qLIj20H1jqBNF7RnNJ6snj0p6duTb7FnH4UQFjTyaZ9N8ipNJ/s1600-h/waynetraining.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361410148806551170" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrja71Ezkw2dQ-mLwUsmG6hkMeIfyrQrSK5yiEIg6kPCOCZ5RipWanaUlGAm-2gDYGmyPoZpM6iZD9SoOwVZSQtiV-cU_qLIj20H1jqBNF7RnNJ6snj0p6duTb7FnH4UQFjTyaZ9N8ipNJ/s320/waynetraining.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Hopefully you won't be this lonely in a few weeks time.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPM9MhoMZOVdu_7EsYblHNFhwbUA4UAeKMpq5de9v8p0xHu4LSRt03DuxKRUXcJxwEeIJILM61-92sTyzKj2Kwte36uMPOmJFt-VVN1hE5ph4YNopwHQe5KmC2Lg3QlRyX6hAPZ3upManW/s1600-h/Wayne+and+Zenob.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361410311287221298" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPM9MhoMZOVdu_7EsYblHNFhwbUA4UAeKMpq5de9v8p0xHu4LSRt03DuxKRUXcJxwEeIJILM61-92sTyzKj2Kwte36uMPOmJFt-VVN1hE5ph4YNopwHQe5KmC2Lg3QlRyX6hAPZ3upManW/s320/Wayne+and+Zenob.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />A well deserved glass of wine/port after a tough day in the Ardennes.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirGMeg8sAqZ1pjp1q5WMsLxUt8GZiU23J42h8LW6oZpBeIm3iU8_i0w8PqzPUyErfRnkXEKzQ9g24NtVbJnVvb8PJ3S8UpujHHz5krRXASBxLIWttjip09pL7jsnFoH6IqL0JZtJyarT9n/s1600-h/Wayne+flowers.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361410463869969058" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirGMeg8sAqZ1pjp1q5WMsLxUt8GZiU23J42h8LW6oZpBeIm3iU8_i0w8PqzPUyErfRnkXEKzQ9g24NtVbJnVvb8PJ3S8UpujHHz5krRXASBxLIWttjip09pL7jsnFoH6IqL0JZtJyarT9n/s320/Wayne+flowers.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Time to stop and smell the "poppies"!!!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041741735493595508.post-27377443840659604072009-07-21T13:52:00.000-07:002009-07-22T15:01:27.453-07:00GIST RIDER SUPPORT CASINO EVENING - Gold Coast Australia<span style="font-family:arial;">Together with a very special group of friends we organised a Casino fun night to assist with funds for the ride. I was part of the team organising the event and also marshalled on the day. It was a glorious day in Woking and one of the hottest days so far this summer, 29 degrees. Dylan's school was selected to participate in the school races and him and his other 3 team mates won their race. A moment of glory for four ten year olds, standing on the Tour Series podium and receiving their medals, the same podium the professionals shared later in the day. They had a fantastic day and was also interviewed by Eagle radio, one of the local radio stations. Dylan used his tactics and plugged the GIST event and secured an interview for later on in the year. The event was also televised on ITV tonight.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSbrdX21rk27jXvpgnIFJHoS_nJkDxJOnPg4YlR9uuymjKcqG24Ki9UZ1SW3OA2Ears6NtneRp_CQyC5gtiwTQmeNILV8HZqarX3J1ZxScbFggYgUzCee38l_R5Te62aurTLacgmlF7wZY/s1600-h/Tour+Series+Woking+024.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343221172782633682" style="WIDTH: 197px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 218px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSbrdX21rk27jXvpgnIFJHoS_nJkDxJOnPg4YlR9uuymjKcqG24Ki9UZ1SW3OA2Ears6NtneRp_CQyC5gtiwTQmeNILV8HZqarX3J1ZxScbFggYgUzCee38l_R5Te62aurTLacgmlF7wZY/s320/Tour+Series+Woking+024.jpg" border="0" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPzCaqB_u3jLcTlkezuCZHW9X3PTOuhQSR3mjq_7j9jxgJ1mcsOcwp8mJ5BLKAGE_wS6rf0zWeHunKaTlG7PRmQrExKh_-hegXux_4hzBhhA2h8KhEGMhFuYzzUhYgujBNghdcWic0oCAs/s1600-h/Tour+Series+Woking+045.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343222458666407474" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 219px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPzCaqB_u3jLcTlkezuCZHW9X3PTOuhQSR3mjq_7j9jxgJ1mcsOcwp8mJ5BLKAGE_wS6rf0zWeHunKaTlG7PRmQrExKh_-hegXux_4hzBhhA2h8KhEGMhFuYzzUhYgujBNghdcWic0oCAs/s320/Tour+Series+Woking+045.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyBUKEwI2p7PUoaUcQUJ1fI0RD0NZWmnSKzEuf4iACeCppuK4SP4-XO-qhp1yYtf3CQXNSvukx2_s_whHCglTdNAy6OWUPJbSZ_BvSZOVXQbHAFLP_S3FCcDXxurZ8cm5n2OLWr1lt29ie/s1600-h/Tour+Series+Woking+048.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343223017543330994" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyBUKEwI2p7PUoaUcQUJ1fI0RD0NZWmnSKzEuf4iACeCppuK4SP4-XO-qhp1yYtf3CQXNSvukx2_s_whHCglTdNAy6OWUPJbSZ_BvSZOVXQbHAFLP_S3FCcDXxurZ8cm5n2OLWr1lt29ie/s320/Tour+Series+Woking+048.jpg" border="0" /></a> Live on radio, what a moment!!<br /><br />To see some more fantastic images of the tour series taken by a friend of mine, click on the following link. <a href="http://www.junglemoon.co.uk/wokingtourseries/">http://www.junglemoon.co.uk/wokingtourseries/</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041741735493595508.post-18547407257948868772009-06-03T14:13:00.000-07:002009-06-03T14:38:12.052-07:00Training to Givet by the Belgium TeamOn Monday, 1 June, the Belgium team cycled about 100km to Givet, a picturisque town along the Meuse river. A smorgasbord of flavors come from this lofty land in the hilly southeast of Belgium: game, wild boar, venison, smoked ham, the region's famous paté and world-renowned Trappist beers. Looking at the photos it seemed like a brilliant day was had by all, stopping for strawberries and cream and a nice Trappist beer. Knowing Belgium, the scenery along the cycle roads are beautiful , BUT very flat. I am afraid boys, you will have to head to France or Switserland to do some hill training.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9LMJsfkxPop5OAf67bPe90HYTYsNnCKjAu0Vho7QkojT39hnboY1BPR8AqmslhCBsglYNQajJtoQt7olW0xztooIC5Ji4vlf8ge-lUOm8zi0qkhUYszyasSNSkQS-aLvBeSN2EKUtC9Cv/s1600-h/Daytrip+to+Givet+in+Belgium.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343213910891259570" style="WIDTH: 292px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 217px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9LMJsfkxPop5OAf67bPe90HYTYsNnCKjAu0Vho7QkojT39hnboY1BPR8AqmslhCBsglYNQajJtoQt7olW0xztooIC5Ji4vlf8ge-lUOm8zi0qkhUYszyasSNSkQS-aLvBeSN2EKUtC9Cv/s320/Daytrip+to+Givet+in+Belgium.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />From Left to right Gert Meiring, Wayne Thomas and Wessel Wessels.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZzK6AbojzRfabd0rSZ8xRXg6DOG-HcsGUbDjHxdFAC7OxIUb9n6gubcipFqDkvzcnaHNc-m9kRkcGQkVvw0q1vDSY1wreXipjihAiFhptUK4QRx7nky2gHIVZUunms5BrcxdY_fDlzrKN/s1600-h/Wessel.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343213692363487506" style="WIDTH: 189px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 230px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZzK6AbojzRfabd0rSZ8xRXg6DOG-HcsGUbDjHxdFAC7OxIUb9n6gubcipFqDkvzcnaHNc-m9kRkcGQkVvw0q1vDSY1wreXipjihAiFhptUK4QRx7nky2gHIVZUunms5BrcxdY_fDlzrKN/s320/Wessel.jpg" border="0" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0NjQ5Y8htzOtcxKu7cFeJ9nYhRbJdJ9XtCBK3gH3sKsC4FhdobOGaghVZAZVfX8hBoXvbVjyrFCvznG3OjbE4f0N0GSE-PbjkdoJjdaQt-3Whw9os2AfFX89scCgSgvN-EOTKH8tn4jZ8/s1600-h/Waynegivet.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343213592921412434" style="WIDTH: 196px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 234px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0NjQ5Y8htzOtcxKu7cFeJ9nYhRbJdJ9XtCBK3gH3sKsC4FhdobOGaghVZAZVfX8hBoXvbVjyrFCvznG3OjbE4f0N0GSE-PbjkdoJjdaQt-3Whw9os2AfFX89scCgSgvN-EOTKH8tn4jZ8/s320/Waynegivet.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><p>Wessel Wessels's fashion statement for the ride!!!<br />Concentrating on the flat roads Wayne?</p><p> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBnEsOSxQy3ATWD4tnceuYijK8jeO_RFWcNn_1pdN2Lf35NLFz4xbjjbCUakV6kmUWq9DidrMGJzWWy7GvtajUSUgfa4XxMg6aAZFlTPXcJcs2nuQKVwALMOlqSMhxWJRIiUTGOLs-Br8S/s1600-h/Belgiumbeer.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343218316338540482" style="WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBnEsOSxQy3ATWD4tnceuYijK8jeO_RFWcNn_1pdN2Lf35NLFz4xbjjbCUakV6kmUWq9DidrMGJzWWy7GvtajUSUgfa4XxMg6aAZFlTPXcJcs2nuQKVwALMOlqSMhxWJRIiUTGOLs-Br8S/s320/Belgiumbeer.jpg" border="0" /></a> A well deserved Trappist beer.</p></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041741735493595508.post-76824709582707413212009-05-19T13:31:00.000-07:002009-05-19T13:59:34.870-07:00<span style="font-size:130%;"><strong><span style="color:#993399;">Philip rides the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Bloomin'Metric</span> Ride</span><br /></strong></span><br />One of Sound Cyclists' premier events, <span style="color:#000000;">The <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Bloomin</span>' Metric Ride</span>, occurs <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">annually in</span> the spring and attracts thousands of riders.
